It's that time again, so I was after some numbers chaps. I drive a 97 GT3.

Footman James gave me a quote £200 more than my usual company, so I'll give them a miss.

All help much appreciated.

Can't speak from massive experience, but have had 2 different companies insure me now for a Sport 350.

First time round back in 2000, I was 31, the car was brand new so insured for about £65k all-in. With 5 years no claims, A1 (based in the south - Southampton I think) quoted me £1900.

My current 350 that I got a couple of weeks ago, is a 99 reg car so worth about £30k less than the first. This is insured now through AON (automotive division) for about £1200.

Needed insuring quickly so didn't have time to spend ages trawling around for cheaper. This seemed ok-ish so I took it.

Expecting someone to post in here that if I change to 'company X' then I'll save zillions of pounds but hey ho, you takes your chances.....

Good luck with the hunting.

Do you have a number for AON please? I've never heard of them.

Cheers

I'm with Priviledge for my 97 GT3. I pay £660 + £170 for the moto-concept chip ( robbing bastards ). They wanted to charge me for adding a rear wing !! ( I told them it was a factory option, like leather or A/C ) but they would not listen.

Anyway, I'm 34, full NCD, tracker + cat 1, 4000 miles a year.

Cheers,

I'll cover a fair bit more than 4000 miles though and only have 2 years NCB.

I'll try them

Nick - i'm with direct line. I've been with them since i got my gt3 back in 2000. For the v8-gt i've just renewed, £641 was the original quote, but i protected my no-claims for the first time this year, which added £100 on to that. Still not bad though.

I'm 34, car garaged, no mileage limit, 5 yrs no claims, no accidents and i'm (suprisingly) clear from points

hth.

cheers
Rob

Those prices quoted ARE per year.
It costs me less for Comprehensive for the Esprit in NZ than 3rd Party for my FIAT in England.

Hey can I ask you who you got that through? Am paying $560/yr full cover and no claims <3000km/yr, thought I was on to a good thing.

South Island is twice as much cheaper to Auckland though. Car theft up here is pretty bad.

I am insured with State Insurance.

Actually I got an even cheaper quote from AA but with limited mileage and I like to cruise up to Queenstown regularly..

Yeah was with State in Timaru paying $220 for the Subaru, but soon as I moved to Auckland price went up x 3 so told them where to go. Shame really thought I was a good customer with a clean record and they would look after me. I am with a broker now who specialises with hotrods, exotics and other low mileage cars.

£95 a year !!!! That's amazing. Still, as long as you avoid the sheep then you'll be okay

You may jest about the sheep but they are a real hazard.
I was crossing the mountain pass known as the Pigroot in March, late at night, in the fog and came across a few sheep on the road. I was lucky it was foggy as it kept my speed down and I was able to stop in time. (cattle are worse though)
Also sheep tend to be suicidal, beware of sheep on the side of the road, they tend to rush across to the other side of the road as you approach.
Having said that, I have never hit one.

Who ever named that stretch of road should be ashamed of themselves, dirty old farmers.
We nearly hit a cow once flying over the brow of a hill. Luckily the cow was on the other side of the road. Could have been instant dead tucker all round. Yuk.
