Does anyone wanna play the "Price is Right" and guess how much it would cost to make my car into a show car?...It doesnt look like I have much more to go at all. I can`t wait,im almost at that Esprit nirvana that some of you guys talk about...So give me your estimate on what you guys think it will cost to complete my car......Here is the list.

1. Paint work-Rear Hatch,Front and Rear valence,Removable top

2.) Leather dyeing of 2 seats and center console.

3.) New Lotus esprit badges

4.) Carpet

5.) Rear carpet

6.) Headliner

7.) Aluminum mesh,Front and rear

8.) Parking brake leather

9.)The plastic between the doors and quarter windows.

10.)Reseal the rear windows.

11.) Wheels repainted

12.) Esprit floormats

13.)weather stripping

That should do it.
My guess is around 1500 for all. What do you guys think? Also feel free to post what you need to do to your car. It will be interresting to see.

10K or more for a flawless show car. Depends if you are very good with paint and body work.
Much less for a very nice driver of the type most of us have.

All depends on what you can do yourself.
A really good paint job for 5-6K or more for a show car finish is not unheard of. My car is pretty far from a show car finish. The rest of the interior work is time consuming, can you do this type of work? It will be less if you can, 10k is about right if you get a good price from someone willing to do this work for you.

Fess up, you were drinking heavily when you posted this. C'mon, your bio says you're a college student...we all know what goes on there

Calvins estimates are fair...maybe even low.

Still, I say go for it. Just pick one job at a time and chip away at it.

hahahah HAHAHAHHA

that was funny!!!

Prices seem to be cheaper where I am.....765 for a C service

I got an estimate for the paint work at 400 dollars for the rear valence, front valence and rear hatch. The guy is the best in NC by far.

Carpet is 400 and dyeing the seats is 75 a seat with the console around 70 as well.

The rest seems like cheap stuff to me......so i may be right when i say 1500-2000

The body shops name does not start with Earl with a 295 special does it??? Just joking. Be careful with the paint match with red. It will fade at a different rate even if it matches now there is not a guarantee that it will match in the future. To have have a show finish you have to shoot the whole car unless the paint is fairly new. For a driver finish the paint job can be a bit more sloppy.

Earl Shives...priceless Calvin.

Adam, those prices are insane. If the guy does good work, you have discovered the holy grail. Good show.

BTW, where abouts in NC are you located? I used to live down there.

Yes, for a driver finish you can get away with what you plan to do. For the show car, keep in mind you are going to be dissasembling your car...the price may go up from even the 3-4 K range.

Good luck...post pictures!

High Point, North Carolina.

The Lotus dealer in NC does all my work.

I talked to John Welch on the phone last night and he couldnt beleive that it was only 765 for a c service....425 to replace all the seals and gaskets in the upper and lower cam housing boxes and make them brand new....170 for a timing belt change. This Lotus mechanic is a genius......He is in Charlotte NC...You can find him on the Main Lotus website under North Carolina.

Mechanical genius perhaps, but certainly not a business genius by any strecth! Does he not realize he is losing money hand over fist on C services?

Ask him if you can pre-pay now for your next 3 C services...before he wises up

I used to live in Jacksonville (aka Actionville) when I was in the service.

Hi,

I used to run a company which operated two hotels in Jacksonville, NC, and I had a very good friend who is an IP (Instructor Pilot) at Cherry Point. Very interesting town. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
