As I already said, I'm looking for an Esprit.
I want a carfax report for the following car:
SCC082910CHD11404
When I enter the number it says: number invalid.
Is there any other possibility to find out something about that car ?
Thanks
Hiero

I have a code list at home. Many do in fact but all it will tell you is about original equipment and paint codes. Get in touch with Lotus they will tell you about warranty items done to the car. I think carfax only works in certain market areas.

You are one digit short, it should be 18 digits. Have a look at http://chargecooler.org/vin/index.htm when you know it.

Sorry andybetts, VINs are 17 digits long, not 18. The problem with Hiero's VIN is that several digits don't match Lotus' VIN coding convention.

To decode valid VINs, go to my EFF and click on the General Info chapter; then click on the VIN Mumbers topic and find the link to my decoder. It's a more evolved version of the one that is on the Chargecooler.org site and will handle all valid 17-digit VINs.

Cheers,

and lastly, make sure that you are using "0"'s instead of the letter"o". There are no letter "o"'s in a vin number and that is sometimes confusing and why people have this problem.
