I have a Esprit 88/89 LE in pearl white the wheels need refurbishment. The question is do I stick with the original (very eighties) white rims, or do I re paint them silver or possibly chrome them. What do you think?

I have chrome Ruote wheels. They came that way when I got the car. http://pages.prodigy.net/cnh/_wsn/page2.html

It's your car, make it look exactly how you want it to.

What you are suggesting is such a minor modification that only the saddest of originality freaks would disagree.

I tend to agree that white wheels on a white car is not the best combination.

My white car currently has silver wheels, which is probably the most conventional...

..... but they are off the car at present. When they go back on they will probably have the centres painted a gunmetal colour to give a bit more contrast.

I would shy away from chrome or lacquer as this tends to flake with age and minor damage. I have just spent a fortune having a set of BMW alloy rims stripped and re-polished because the lacquer started to peel.

I am all for sensible modifications and improvements, be they cosmetic or mechanical. I get the impression that most people here would agree.

Hi,

My car is a standard 89 Turbo in ordinary white. It has the same alloys I think but done in the standard silver. Have a look on :-
