Hi,
a few weeks ago I was thinking about fitting a 350 wing on my 1991 SE. I loved it, since I saw it the first time. Then I had the chance holding one at the rear of my car when I had removed the original SE-wing. And I must say: in my opinion it doesn't look on a SE with it's rear window. I drove the car a few weeks without a wing and than started the project: making a SE spoiler higher. It was a lot of work and at the beginning I had a little scruple to machine an original Lotus part.
Ok, I did it and made the wing 10 cm higher. I fitted it on the car and I love the look. You can see it on www.lotus-esprit-se.de/NeueSeiten/Exterieur.html (2003) and www.lotus-esprit-se.de/NeueSeiten/Tuning.html (Exterieur) and www.lotus-esprit-se.de/NeueSeiten/Treffen.html (Sinsheim) What do you think of making a SE wing higher? I be anxious to know your opinion. But please - don't kill me.

Regards
Stephan

I vote as follows:

1) No wing. Your car look(ed) amazing with out a wing due to the rear glass. Wow!

2) Low wing

3) High wing. From the side it doesn't look right to me.

Luke.

Hi there, we've exchanged e-mails in the past, I think it looks great. If it's individuality your looking for, you've got it! If your looking for the SE original highwing look, Kato form LEW has just taken his off. You could enquire about it.
BTW I'm the one with the Norfolk Mustard turbo with the problem S4 alloys I bought last month. Iam glad to say that I now have spacers on which look the business.

Cheers,

Stephan....What an amazing website you have! Your car will look good with either of the three options. I do like the high wing but it does come down to what you like, and the most impact feel when you see some other examples out there. If the option doesn't make your heart pound don't go there.
I like your mesh btw.

Hi Stephan, will post some soon.
I will be doing a few performance mods soon and let you know. As mine is a carbed turbo, there isn't a lot a mods outthere advertised for the average non mechanics to do. With yours, you can put BOV's and chips etc.

Cheers,

??????...There are several good mods you can do to the carb'd Turbos, including adding a BOV. Just a few mods I made to my carb'd Turbo:

1. Advanced the valve timing 6° to restore the original engine spec. by swapping the 110 intake cam pulley for a 104 intake cam pulley

2. Added a slightly more agressive 104 cam (0.412" lift vs. 0.378" stock).

3. Re-jetted the carbs

4. Re-curved Distributor to bring on all 16° of advance at 2,100 RPM

5. Recalibrated the wastegate to produce 10.0PSI of boost vs. the stock 7.5PSI.

6. Ceramic coated the exhaust header and assoc. parts for lessened turbo lag and better heat management.

7. Added SS Clutch and Brake Hoses

8. Added custom made adjustable upper rear links - (the pre-S4 cars had fixed links).

9. Added 205 series tires to the front to reduce the car's tendency for understeer.

10. Added a set of V-8 Seats for greater comfort and adjustability

11. In all likelyhood will be installing a BOV in the next off-season.

All these are pretty easy DIY mods which cost pretty little and they significantly improve the car's performance. Let me know if any of these interest you and I'll be happy to share my experiences and any knowledge I gained. Happy Mororing! Jim'85TE

Thanks Jim, Iam very intersted in these mods. I threw that one in there hoping someone like yourself would reply.
As this has gone off the subject of the thread, can you e-mail me on dave@acsdesign.org please. There we can discuss the mods in order of priority.
Many thanks,

Dave Walters

Hi Kylie,
thank you for the compliment. The front aluminium mesh is from foliatec www.foliatec-de, the rear aluminium mesh from a do-it-yourself store. Foliatec has agencies all over the world, but I don't know if New Zealand is one of them.

Hallo Roadburner,
