bent inner tie rod

How do I fix this? My chassis shop guy says he will try to straighten it on the rack or just cut / weld a new piece in its place.. is this replaceable because the lotus manual doesnt make it sound like it is. I checked th joint under the boot and it looks ok. I'll try and take some pics later today.

Sounds like a new rack followed by a trip to the chassis jig to make sure the rest of it isn't bent....
