About 1 week ago my interior fans stopped working. I have checked the fuse - looked O.K. and swapped with another 15A without any change. Also the cars now sometimes does not do the higher rev warm-up for the first 3-5 mins of starting the car cold.
Other than that the car is great. Anyone have any ideas before I start digging deeper - 88 Turbo.

I don't know about the older Esprits (Jim/Lotusguy can probably field this better), but on the newer ones when your battery runs below a certain charge level, the use of fans are reduced (this according to my handy dandy service notes). You may want to check your battery charge level...

Jason,
Sorry to hear of your troubles. It sounds as if your problem lies in one of two areas. Namely, vacuum , the High Temp Switch, your 'Otter' switch or a relay. Possibly a combination of all four.
To further isolate the problem, run the car and turn on your A/C. If the fans come on, the problem lies with your 'Otter' switch, the switch sticking into the side of the large upright coolant pipe at the passenger front side of the engine bay. You may simply have corroded terminals, or the switch itself may have gone south. Prepare a jumper wire w/ a male spade connector on each end and use it to connect the two terminals coming off the 'Otter' switch. If the fans start up, you either have corroded terminals or a bad switch. Try to clean up the terminals and check again.
As far as your warm-up idle is concerned, this could be the warn-up relay in the ignition box (switch it with another relay) and see if that corrects the problem. If not, check all vacuum lines. If they are all correct and the issue still remains, using the same jumper wire you made for the 'Otter' switch test, use it to jump the connector on your High Temp switch, located on the intake manifold. If this solves the problem, again, you have either corroded terminals or a bad High Temp switch. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
