V8 exhaust sound files

Hi,

I'm contemplating which exhaust system to put on my 99 V8-GT. At the moment it's got the standard system but I definately want something a bit more "vocal".

I'm aware of most of the options that are available but I would like to hear them in action before deciding. Do anyone have any sound files or videos where you know which exhaust system is on the car? If so it would be a great help.

I'd be especially interested in a comparison of straight pipes vs a Moto-Concept.

hi magnus. straight pipes are much louder. the moto-concept system is similar in volume to the lotus sports exhaust, but its a nicer, sweeter noise but hard to describe! I have a camera that will take short mpeg movies, so i'll see if can capture the sound of the exhaust.

I have an avi file shot by Rob C from inside his car, following me when i had straight pipes on last year. You really can't hear much, but i'll send you a copy if you want. Its 2.5mb. let me know your email adr if you want this.

magnus - you have mail. In addition to my car with straight pipes, i found a short clip of a v8-gt with a lotus sports exhaust doing a fast pass - i've sent this too.

I took a couple of short avi clips of my car this weekend, so if anyone wants a to hear what the freudhoefer/moto-concept exhaust sounds like send me a mail and i'll send you the files. Two files, 1.5mb and 2mb.

Alternatively, if someone has some space and wants to host them, let me know.

I am not sure what is meant by strait pipes but I have one rendition. I have the CATS still installed with “straight” pipes with out a muffler. The sound is sweet and not very loud. No one has made mention that it is to loud for the past year. You also drop about 1,000 pounds of weight from the old muffler. That thing gave me a thrill when it came down on me during removal!

I also removed the muffler from my 99 V8. I put straight pipes right out from my cats and then put chrome tips on there. The whole thing was done at a local muffler shop for about $100. I was amazed at how heavy the old muffler was. It seriously had to weigh 50 lbs.

The new sound is 100% better. Still not very loud, but definitely deeper and meaner.

Funny you should say that. I've just Upt some media files of my 89 Turbo. Got some much cleaner sounds today including a standing start that I will try to add later or Friday.

Also Rob, If you mail me your clips I'll stick them on my site aswell (You know the Address).
