I heard that the chassis of Esprit remains the same throughout the twenty somewhat years of production. Just out of curiosity, would I be able to upgrade some performance parts for my G-Type Esprit from S-type parts? For instance the Floating AP brake kit from the V8? Or the complete power tran from the latest model?

Zak,

While the basic chassis layout is somewhat consistent throughout the model run, being a backbone chassis and such, it is far from the same chassis. It has been lengthened and widened and the front suspension is vastly different from the S1 to the V-8.

On the assumption that anything is possible, the short answer to your question is yes, you could retrofit all the enhancements onto your car, but not without extensive, and I mean extensive, modification and re-engineering.

The brake upgrades would be difficult to impossible as your car has inboard rear brakes and these were moved outboard in '89. Then there's the issue of tranny mounts, exhaist, chrgecooler plumbing, power assisted steering, ABS brakes, not to mention the many changes to the electrical system.

As I said, in principle, it could be done, but you could probably have a 360 Modena for less money. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

BTW Willwood and Hi-Spec do four pot kits for your shoae car. I think Hi-Spec may be the better option but you'll need to get a bespoke bracket made up.
I live in UK but my local Lotus Specialist PNM Engineering already supplies the Wilwood full kit, discs, four pot calipers and stainless steel hoses for £450. I think that's about $720 give or take a few dollars. That's for front and rears.
Up until recently I don't think that the Wilwood's had dust seals but the Hi-Spec do. I have read somewhere that Wilwood 2003 version now have dust seals but you would have to double check that if you were to place any orders.

There maybe someone closer to home but I think the trick is to find someone who's made the bracket.
Just incase you don't find someone their number is +44 151 630 6101 or www.pnmengieering.com

Hope this helps.

I see I see~
Well, I really think the 2.2T is good enough for my sporting purpose. I think it pulls really hard at lower speed, and that's pretty much all that I needed. I only got these thoughts of looking for a wrecked V8 for more beef a while ago because I was constantly getting smoked by my dad's SC430 on Highway. He is a crazy 60 years old.
