Firstly, thanks to the guys who have pushed me into a space at shows.I have seen other G car owners pushing or being pushed backwards, why?.
I have assumed that(as it only happens when car is hot)that the gear linkage expands too much to select reverse, however,i'm sure mine is getting worse, why?.
Have heard selecting first helps, but seems to make no difference at all, why?.
Am in no doubt the answer is well known, but not to me so any advice would be great, thanks.

What you need is a stainless clutch hose and preferably a new clutch slave cylinder.

Buy with confidence from SJ Sportscars.

Paul,

In addition to the stainless clurch line upgrade suggested by Pat (Really a must for any Esprit), it also sounds as if your crossgate cable should be checked and adjusted, especially since you idicate it getting worse. A poorly adjusted cable will only compound the issue. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Slave Cylinder - £36.75
Stainless Steel Braided Clutch Hose - £35.25

Factor in some quality hydraulic fluid and a couple of grommets.

While you are under there fit a modified crossgate cable rod for £19.99.

You will need to add VAT and delivery.

Ring Steve at SJ Sportscars on 01363 777790.

This will not result in your Esprit changing gears like a Ford bullet box, but will make a big difference for not much money.

If you do not intend to do the work yourself, then I would guess that two to three hours labour would be involved.

HTH, Pat.

Yep, Pat & Jim said it all there. Did mine and no more tears. I printed off a detailed procedure from the lotusespritworld website. Has some great stuff there check it out.
