sometimes my car will just stall for no reason. if i let it sit for a minute or 2 it will start again. other times it will start and stall imediately and i must wait a few minutes again before trying to start. has anyone had this problem before?

If you are having a very lucky day, pulling out the two ECM(?) fuses in the back might fix it. Leave them out fifteen minutes and put them back. This sometimes resets the "bad" info it has learned.
Do 88 models have ECM??
Not so sure.
i have a computer, but it doesn't have memcal chips or else i would be set. i tried removing the fuses to reset the computer and tps, but alas it didn't work.
