Finally...330 chip and BOV installed
Discussion
I got around to doing it yesterday. I've only put about 25-30 miles on it since, so she's still learning the new code.
At first, it pegged right at .5 bar. And it kept pegging there, so I was getting a little worried that something might not be working right. Then, like flicking a switch, 1.2 bar baby!
I'll have to drive it some more, let it get bedded better, and then make my judgements.
So far the boost seems to me yo be smoother and more refined over the Mark V code. I don't feel slammed into my seat...more just forecfully pressed, if that makes any sense.
I imagine I am accelerating much faster...tho that's an entirely unscientific observation. The old way, it seems like I was going like a bat out of hell because the turbo kicked in after lag launching me in every gear.
With the BOV, there is no real lag, so the acceleration is very steady.
For what it's worth, my fiance said she preferred the old chip as it was rougher and really hammered you into the seat. Just a perception thing I suppose. Perhaps after it gets bedded in fully and really starts to hum, she'll change her mind.
I did post the video of the ECU removal, but my server is being switched over, so It probably won't be viewable until tomorrow.
And I didn't video the BOV install as I couldn't get a good angle to tape it. Now that I have one under my belt, if anyone near here does it I'll try and head out and tape it for the web.

Congrats Mike,
I see your ass-o-meter isn't calibrated yet
Without the lag it does "seem" to be slower but in fact you will be accelerating faster. The stock turbo with the lag almost feels like a small nitrous shot when it comes in because it is almost dead before it gets into the power band, but with your new chip your getting into it much sooner, and smoother.
We can video tape my BOV install when I am ready to do it in a month or two. I cant wait to go for a ride in your car with the new program. As soon as my car gets out of the shop (hopefully today
) we can meet up. One of my secondary injectors are leaking so we are waiting on two new "O" rings to get it back into my garage.
Good job on the install I look forward to seeing it!
Later,
Andy
BTW This is the exact reason why I wish more esprit guys would dyno, and track test their cars. Sometimes the ass-o-meter just isnt scientific enough

Anything you would like to tell us about those "special seats", Mike
Congrats! I know you have wanted this for a while...

Nope, if they did what you implied with your bold highlights, I'd certainly keep that secret for myself big E.
Andy, nice to see you back posting. Gotta get that baby on the road! Definately let me know when you do your BOV...I'll be there. And of course you are welcome to show me how a properly calivrated piece of test equipment works...we'll have to go for a drive sometime.

Mike,
I was just thinking that I could convince the Mrs. to go for more drives in the Esprit if I had those in my car
By the way - I have a G-tech that I'm not using/won't be using any more (thinking about ordering the competition version). If you would like to use it, shoot me an email offline with your address and I'll pop it in the mail to you...
