Are you looking to service it or replace it?

Graeme thanks for reply.

The large plastic disc inside booster is cracked--I would like to either service that item and overhaul rest or replace it all together--any info.
Do you have any info on cam belt replacement-- method, time to do job and marks to line up to.
Cheers
Ric

Hi Ric,

The Brake Booster is an 8.5" Girling booster and was used on several different Marques. You have a cracked diaphram which is non-repairable. The entire booster must be replaced. You can get one from Lotus directly (pretty spendy), or order one through SJSportscars in the UK for £149.00. Not too much involved in installation. Contact them at: www.sjspotscars.co.uk ,ask for Steve (the 'S' in SJ). Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE

looks like your brake query is dealt with.

With regards to the timing belt, I did mine not long ago and used the intructions found under Maintenance on the site.

http://espritfactfile.com/Timing.html

I found the job easier lifting the Alternator out. Also using the idea of tie wire with the tensioner worked best (watch out for the spacer behind it and mind where the springs go :P )

Aligning the marks is explained in the instructions. Turn the engine over several times by hand to ensure the marks are right after assembly.

It actually has the cheapest timing belt of any car I've owned.
