Air intake silencer

Hi folks,

How much of a difference does it make noise wise if the air intake silencer is removed (on 86 S3)?

Is it worth doing or does it have an adverse effect?

It makes a hell of a noise ......
I have removed mine and it sound really good but I am going to refit the silencer as it is too loud. To be honest I have never driven the car with it fitted so I can't comment on how the silencer effects performance.

I'd say whip your silencer off and give it a try, you may like the new noise it makes.
