Hello all. I am planning on a chip upgrade (havn't decided exactly which one or from where yet), but I would like to know if it is possible to purchase a complete mem cal (not ecu) with the new code, instead of having to send my stock, unmodifed one in. Basically, I would like to have the stock mem cal and the upgraded one. Is this possible? Also, I know that there is alot of info/reviews on the different chips, but does anyone have any personal experience and recommendations on which one is the best for my situation? I am keeping the engine mods to a minimum and really only want the chip to address the 3000 rpm stumble. I may upgrade the turbo in the future, but would only want to go with a max of 1 bar boost. The turbo upgrade will mainly be for less turbo lag and cooler operation.

Thanks
John

Yes you can buy a memcal replacement from John Welsh at a reasonable cost. A snap in replacement. The only chip I can think of is the S4s MKV improved chip with the stumble removed.

His prices are reasonable. It is for the memcal cartridge not just the chip.

I bought mine from Sanj, here on PH. Sent him my memcal, and he sent it back with the hot-swap bracket for the chip sautered into place. Along with my old chip. Now I can swap them out with relative ease.

I did the very same thing, and I am very pleased with the High Torque and 330 HP chips that I swap back and forth occasionally. Most of the time I am running the High Torque chip that is based on the improved S4s MKV mappings. Sanj is a good man to do business with.

Sanj is a good guy. From what he tells me he has a A/B switch version of the holder that all one has to do is hit the switch when the engine is off to go between 2 chips.
