I can recommend Lakeside Engineering in Woking (Surrey) but they may be too far? They did a good job on my clutch and at short notice.

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your troubles, but if you have reason to believe that the bearings are shot, a total breakdown of the engine (especially one where you have so little experience or history with) is in order. It does no good to repair these only to find more severe damage later on ocurred in the valvetrain, pistons or liners, this is where your money will really get sucked into the 'Black Hole'. It would be best to suck up and do it right now rather than to be bled to death later. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Well I am about to drive to cornwall in my MR2 talk about fall from grace, I really wanted the Lotus working but hey never mind. I have to wait til i get back to get it fixed, I have managed to find a lotus specialist near my village on £80 to be towed there and then the real butt
begins. I will have to explain that he needs to find were I'm loosing pressure from, I don't want a £3000 repair every 6 months. For a little while I beleived I was going to have a lotus without any trouble, no change

My Lancia workshop manual comes with a whole page of English to American translation.
Eg from above
English------------------American
Big-end bearing----------Rod bearing
Small end or Gudgeon pin-Piston pin or wrist pin
Some definately cause confusion eg
Hood--------Soft top
Bonnet------Hood
