My headlights won't pop up, I have no clue where to begin. Anyone have any ideas on troubleshooting the problem? This is a 1985 Turbo Esprit

Mine do the same thing... what a pain in the arrse... first they work, then only one will pop up, then either one of them will pop up, however the lights turn on.
Check your plugs that feed the lamps first for good clean contacts and that no bullet connectors have slid from their correct locations in the plug making a poor contact. There are two relays for both motors, or the headlamp switch could have burned contacts. As a full time tech, I hate to spend what little free time I have working on my cars unless I have to! I happened to discover this little trick... my pods will always open with the "flash" method. With the lights off, pull the dipper switch toward you, if they open, hold the dipper switch and with right hand, pull down the lever of the headlamp switch for the lights and they will stay up, lit and work both beams. I've been doing this until I get the time and energy to really look into the problem and when that happens, I will be happy to let you know what I find.
Cheers,
Robert

Do your light motors have knobs on the back? If so you can manually raise them. If power is getting that far they will pop up and retract on their own. If so then check the switches. If not check the relays.

I had the same trouble with my '89 non-SE. I changed the headlight switch in the binacle and the problem went away. I was able to change the switch without having to remove the binacle. But it is up to you as to how precise you want your fix to be.

If you hear the pod lift motor turning and the pod not coming up, then that is a pod gear problem and you can look at the many posts about fixing that problem.
