Hi,

My leather shifter knob with red lettering just comes right off if you lift up. When you look inside there is a black hard plastic insert inside that should snap on the black plastic round piece. See the photos at:

Can The entire knob be replaced with another one or a different aftermarket one? Looked for Tony's web site that some people talked about having photos of how to replace with another knob, but the link is dead. My knob feels like a dry sponge ready to rip open.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve same thing happened to mine, I could pop mine on and off quite easily. To fix this mix up some araldite or similar strength glue and paint it over the cap and fit the knob back on. If you want to take the black cap off, get a hair drier and give it some heat as its stuck on firmly with glue, this will soften the glue enough to move it. Get a couple of wide blade screw drivers and gently wiggle it off from underneath, being careful not to damage it too much, thats if you want to keep it. I decided to replace mine with a aftermarket sport 350 shifter knob, with the emblem on it and feels very positive with no movement. The problem is it only has one grub scew on the side, so you have to keep it tight or comes loose.
I recommend get a replacement knob with at least two grub screws on each side. Anyway best of luck,
Kylie

I've just ordered a Esprit GT3 Gearknob from PNM Engineering. I'll be fitting it when it arrives and doing a full guide as usual. They're much cheaper than I was expecting, but still more expensive than some of the aftermarket ones. Should go well with Alan's Alloy Gearshift Surround.
