Cigar lighter lights stay on?

Hi lotus fans,
I have a strange problem and was wondering if anyone else has had this:
It seems that the lights that illuminate the cigar lighters in my Esprit are not going out when I turn off the car, get out, and close the door. The ground illumination lights (in the lower part of the door) go out just fine after about 45 seconds. The cigar lighter lights go out when the driving lights are turned on as they are supposed to do (??? they always have anyway)... but recently the Battery got real low. I traced it to the cigar lighter lights slowly draining the battery!
ANY ideas will be looked into! For now, I pulled the fuse - as I am not a smoker, I will not need them...
