Hello all!
Would anyone have any idea what would cause my fuel pump wires/relays and fuses to get very hot?
One very confused dude!!

Hi,

Sounds like a ground fault. Check all grounds and also trace the wiring on the harness leading to/from the fuel pumps. Look to see that it isn't rubbing and some insulation may have rubbed through and is grounding to the chassis.

If that isn't successful, hook a multi-meter to the fuel pump and check resistance, high or infinite resistance indicates that the fuel pump is on it's way out. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

I have not had this type of thing happen on my Lotus -yet, but... Once upon a time my Austin Healy fuel pump leads were getting hot. I only noticed because I was changing the right rear tire. It turned out that the fuel filter was the reason. It was very dirty (due to some really bad fuel I got as well as needing to be changed anyway) and it was causing the fuel pump to work overtime. Not sure if this could be the case with your Esprit?

Good luck!
