See Espritworld.

I'm sure that theres a couple of articles on there about doing these wheels.

I stripped the two piece BBS wheels from mum's BMW, had the rims mirror polished by a local metal polishers who also stripped and replated the bolts (I think there were over 130 of them.)

A local powder coaters put new enamel on the centre pieces.

I reassembled the wheels and they are great. Very time consuming job, however.

I have not had them lacquered to prevent the original problem recurring. I find that a squirt of WD40 and an occasional polish with the Solvol keeps them mint.

I paid £80 for the centre pieces to be stripped and repainted and £120 for the rims to be polished. The bolts were another £15.

In all, it took me about three weeks to do the whole job, so it was fortunate that I had a spare set of wheels.

I was so impressed that I did the same job on my Esprit, which only has one piece wheels, so needed some careful masking of the polished rims before the centres could be painted.

Pat.

Check at the bottom of the article for a company in the UK who does them. Remember to mention LEW if you call them.

Phil,

I recently had my wheels done. I have done 6 months of research into this and bored people silly asking questions and basically you will not find a company in this contry that will strip the wheel to component level replace all bolts and gaskets and Relaquer. The relaquering is key. You'd have to keep them hosed down after every trip as brake dust will pit the Rim in no time at all. I have read the review on LEW and after asking around at various companies, none of them will guarentee any of the work.

I spoke to one guy who was made to sign a waver saying that if he didn't keep them free of break dust then any work done isn't covered. They ended up costing £850-£900 quid anyway. The price quoted on the LEW article is, I think, out of date.

I looked further afield and found a wheel refurbisher in this contry who acts for Ferrari and Aston Martin and Porsche....

I'm not connected to this company and if you want an independent opinion, then ask Dermot who also posts on this forum occasionally. This company sends your wheels to germany and they do a full refurb including laquer and guarentee it for a year all... Plus they will polish the centres for you. I got this done and they look UNBELIEVABLE... not like chroming. Awesome.

instead of getting your rims re-furbished, just sell them to me and get yourself a nice set of after market rims, 18-19inch's beautifull!! ive been after a set of S4s wheels for ages. and the worse the condition the better. Tony.
