Took me ages to find it but in this months Top Gear supplement they have the Top 100 cars "to get noticed in, respected in and get you into trouble"....we make no 84 with a James Bond MK1, the Elise makes 39. the Elam S1 at 32...of course we dont make it into any of the presenters top 10 not that im suprised but then what does Jeremy Clarkson know about cars
Trouble is,now lotus have dropped the Esprit,their line up is rather thin,they are not one of the car companies that give top gear (AKA the clarkson fan club) fresh new cars to thrash every other month.
Aston,mitsubishi,subaru etc provide them with different models/derivatives,and to add to this TOP GEAR tend to seek out low volume exotics (zonder etc) as they need the exposure and give the hacks what they want (a regular toy).
The top 100 of anything (cars,music,films) will always have a great bias/vote towards things of the current era (i.e the beatles in top ten alongside the current boy band). How many of the cars above the Esprit will still be on the list in ten years?,the Esprit will.
The people that compile these lists have very short memories,if they are not sweet to the latest models and the regular 'test' suppliers,then they would be out of a job.
