Did late model Gcars have 3 radiator fans

Gday all
My question:
Did all late model Gcars .. say mine 87HC n/a
have the larger radiator and 3 radiator fans ????
Why i ask this:
Having the thought of recoring my radiator, as in previous forums..... recore.
Hilly suggested that i get a Pegueot 205 diesel fan set up from a scrapper ... that would be the fans and housing,and adapt this when i put it back 2gether.
I got that and decided to look under the car ..
What did i find ....
Mine had the larger radiator and 3 fans ... the same as the Turbos!!!!!!
i pose this
..... Did the last of the Gcars come out like this,
be it they were Turbos or not
..... did mine come out as a special fit in the
production line
..... was mine added as aftermarket thing

Mind you i am learnig a lot about my car ..

The same was when i added the gearbox mod from SJS
it got put on .. only to find that it had it already done!!!
.. exactly the same .. so i have the new one fitted and the old one as spare
.. Mind you it did still have the crappy red clutch,which has been replaced with the ss one.
I wonder what else has been done to my car ...
I had thought that mine was bog standard !!!!

It is a start ..any more info greatly appreciated by anyone...
Did... as the Gcar was running out in production .. Lotus put all the extras in them be it Turbo or not ....
It don't mention anything in the hand book or workshop manuals ..........

Hi,
Indeed the later cars had the same waterpump, radiator and fan setup as the Turbos.
I would avoid going to a scrapped radiator with a single fan because of the inherent redundancy offered by a multi-fan setup.
That having been said, I would recore the existing radiator to a three-core over the stock two-core. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Gday.... Thanks guys for the info i greatly appreciate them .
I originally intended .. when i took the radiator out and had it 3 cored .. to look at the fans and then adapt the Pegueot 205 fans/cowling to it.
Now this has all changed
I am more a "happy puppy" .... am i
The car is intended to go to its new home in Australia..so i will get it 3 cored there....
Mainly it will be a lot cheaper to do so .....plus "local knowledge"
Another query:
When it goes there
Will i have to change over "cooling fan thermal switch" also called a "otter"
to a "blue colour switch" as from the current "green colour coded switch" .... (according to Lotus manual)
Thank you my "organ grinders" .. me being a mere monkey
Though i am learning all the time .
Does one ..... if have to get a "proper" Lotus part or can any radiator shop do it with their variant of the switch .. (as above)
Also the current fans in my 3 fan situation ..
do you know the part number or manufactor of them .. i believe they are Ford... is there a cross reference for them
