Production due to finish mid-December. The last 33 have just been started, all for the US market. The body shop has already been closed.

I hope to be at the factory for when the last one rolls off the production line.

mmmm its kinda sad. Be interesting to see what happens to the price of our cars. I would expect they remain the same, but of course mint cars with low mileage will increase slightly in value over time?. Just like the Lotus Cortina as an example. Mint ones go for big dollars now.

Surely by 2006 the Lotus factory floor will be in production of a new Esprit? Anyone got any valid inside info on this? I have read drips and drabbs everwhere but want to know whats going on

The way I see it, I would rather have Lotus not call its Esprit replacement the Esprit. I believe in innovation, not imitation The Esprit had a great almost 30 year run of providing equal or better performance than much more expensive cars. It's funny to me, that they only stopped making them because they quit making the transmissions, and it wouldn't pass crash tests. It's a testament to how great it was. I hope Lotus intends to replace the Esprit, but I'd rather have Lotus start a new chapter than try to extend the Esprit's already great history. I am looking forward to my car appreciating a bit.

The value will go up. They can make a different car, But the esprit will allways be one of the great sports cars of all time.

Congrats to those who got em! The value is going up...i know of 89's selling in the mid 30's in the u.s. and i expect the trend to continue for premium esprit.
