The best way I found was to remove the foot rest that the cable nipple connects behind. This is done by simply removing two nuts and sliding the foot rest of the two studs. The cable can then be re-connected easily and the foot rest re-positioned. Before you re-tighten the nuts make sure that the cable has not come off again! It may be worthwhile checking that there is not too much slack on the cable tension at the throttle end because you could find yourself doing this regularly. Also, if this is the case the throttle may nut be opening fully and will reduce performance. Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me when whatever the PO did to the cable let the extra slack loose. I put a new cable in that I made myself. To put the little end back in the foot thing, I assumed the Lotus position, removed the retaining clip from the pin that holds the U shaped thing that holds the cable end, pull the pin, put the cable end back in, put the U thing back on the pedal, replace pin, replace retaining clip. It is kinda challenging. A wife or small child may come in handy.

I had the same trouble. Decided to put a small tie-wrap round it to stop it doing it again. Did the trick just right.

I have had a similar problem. Excess slack in the cable and a hopped throttle cable. Fixed with a wire temporarily, but the solution surely lies with taking up the excess slack by adjusting it back in the engine. By the way, does anyone know where I can find the butterfly in the V8 engine? It is murder trying to get anything done in there, and have been unable to locate the where it needs adjustment. If it is any cosolation to those afflicted with this problem, I understand these cables only stretch once. That is, once slack is taken up, it will cease to be a problem.
