Intresting article about Lotus this week and a answer from Goodwin concerning the "Esprit v ????" thread.

Nice picture of Red SE and goes on to say that they consider the SE would be quicker than 966,M3, Boxster S and TVR Tuscan intially over a mixture of A & B roads. At the the end the order would be 1st 966, 2nd M3 & Boxster S, 3rd Esprit SE and finally the Tuscan (too scary to drive at the limit, I think).

The Esprit going from a easy lead to 3rd is due to crap brakes which I and other owners know to be true.

I think I'll install that brake upgrade from PNM this winter.

Please pronounce your handle for me. I always read it "dick-tease" but I'm not sure that that is correct. :-)

Kato's just put some hi-spec 4pot calipers on the front of his SE. You can ask him.

Lotus PBC does wilwood kits for all esprits. R&B and PUK offer upgrade kits too. PUK's kit to upgrade brembos to APs is € 2532

£540 for the front discs (drilled and slotted), calipers, hoses etc. (Wilwood from PNM)
£40 front pads
£50 Rear disc (EBC Turbo Groove - (drilled and slotted)
£40 Rear Pads

£670 plus VAT all in. This setup should give a good improvement over stock.

Of course if you wish to use AP stuff prices start from around £1000 for the fronts alone

It is pronounced.

(DIK-tis)

"Dictys gave shelter to Perseus and his mother Danae when the tide washed them up on his island. They had been set adrift in a chest by Perseus's grandfather, who had been warned by an oracle that he would die by the hand of a son born to Danae. After the death of King Polydectes, Dictys ruled the island kingdom."

I work in the Marine Industry, thus the reason for the obsure handle.

"dick-tease" refers to an ex girlfriend I think.

Nice piece on the state of play at Lotus by Steve Cropley, although a bit light on facts. Best news as far as this forum is concerned, and I quote from his Autocar article:

"Over in his new design studio, Lotus head of design Russell Carr was having ground-breaking thoughts about the new Esprit when I visited. The new car is due for launch in three years' time and will use the same bonded aluminium monocoque tub as the Elise, but with a much meatier engine, mounted north-south. Carr and co were talking up a 'save the wedge' campaign, citing the original cars starkly qeometric shape, its quad retractable headlights and its flat windscreen. All features which are hard to work with in this sophisticated age, but from the way they were talking, it was clear Lotus had no intention of chucking away the Esprit heritage".

So far so good......
