did bugatti buy lotus in 93 to make the eb110 based on the Esprit S4 platform?? They put fresh money into lotus in 93 and the eb110 has a very similar silouette to the unwinged esprit... anyone know anything bout this?

No, there's very little similarity between the EB110 and the Esprit (other than both being Giugiaro designs). Also, Artioli bought Lotus two years after the design for the EB110 was signed off.

Some of the switch gear is the same, though... I had a look inside one recently and noticed that the windows switches, etc where earily similar to my '98...

Yeah, but many cars share the same switchgear. TVR's have the same window switches. I have even seen the same power mirror switches on a Porsche and McLaren F1. We won't even count how many cars have the same indicator light lenses and rear view mirrors as our cars. They all raid from the same bins and source from the same suppliers.

Lotus worked on some of the development work on the EB110's braking systems. They had an EB110 at the factory and some of the guy there got to drive it. Beast apparently. Brakes were unbelieveable so I'm told.

People said the EB110 was ugly so it didn't sell.

I think it looked good - daring design. Wish more modern supercars had that flair, most are boring repetions on the same old, like Porsche and Ferraris.

I think Lotus have a chance to impress with the future Esprit like they did with the original concept.

I love the eb110, it's my favorite supercar. V-12, four turbochargers, 4 wheel drive. Plus it looks great. Can it get any better?

Veyron = ugly and pointless, Piech's final act of madness before they finally pensioned him off.. not a moment too soon either. Bugatti boss had been given the boot too.

Now THIS on the other hand, i DO like

Checkout the carbon fibred bodied EB110 on this page.

saw it close up. Somebody spent a lot of money on that! You'd never guess is was the owner of the Ferrari Team running in the GTs.
