It looks like the wastegate on my 88 got stuck. Gave the wastegate a good cleaning and moved the actuator rod by hand a few times to make sure it's action was smooth. Lots of rust/dust came down with it, and it got way smoother after a few hand movements. Re-assembled and everything looks good! Producing boost again.
Thanks for the tip guys, much appreciated.

Well..not quite out of the woods yet. My boost gauge is off and on it seems. This drive around, it didn't move to it's normal starting position when the car was started.
While in the garage not 5 minutes before, she was moving freely with the revs. I'll hook my external gauge back up to make sure I'm hitting the correct boost amount, then start tracing back this gauge to find the problem.
Car ran smooth, and the sound of spool is back, so at least I know I'm making some progress.

Yeah... what 'is' a good hi-temp lube to use? I've been spraying moving near the hot sections with that Tri-Flow teflon spray. I'm wondering if that takes the temps okay.
Mark,
With the types of temperatures involved here, there really is no Lube equal to the job. Teflon won't go higher than 650 degrees and any grease based lube will coke up causing more harm than good. You might get away with micro-fine graphite powder, but again, I'd be afraid that it would build up and create a problem. If you have it good and clean, you good for another 15 or so years at any rate. Happy Motoring!...Jim'85TE
