Handbrake light
Discussion
Morning all, a small niggling prob I hop you can help with. My handbrake warning light no longer goes out when the handbrake lever is fully released. Just happened the last couple of days but It's already annoying me! Does anyone know if there is a manual adjustment of the handbrake cable? Probably my own fault for leaving the handbrake on whilst sunning myself in Florida last week!
Thanks,
Richard (90 N/A)
PS I have checked the brake fluid levels as they share the same warning light.

That sounds like what it is most likely to be - I will check it this weekend when I am busy replacing the driver side door handle (which I managed to snap right off last week when trying to open a sticking door - don't know my own strength!)
Thanks for you help Mark - much appreciated.

Although this is not likely the problem, just make sure that when releasing the handbrake, you keep the button depressed all the way down, and let it go only when the lever hits carpet, so to speak. Usually the light will not go out otherwise.
If you do this, and it doesn't go out, then your problem is likely to be microswitch or other.

Checked it all at the weekend, found the microswitch which was not being pushed down when the handbrake lever was fully released. Suspect I may have stretched the handbrake cable after leaving it on for over a week so will try & adjust this weekend (assuming it's not still freezing cold like this morning!)
