Davis Craig EWP...
Discussion
Against popular opinion and advise; I decided to install a Davis Craig EWP (electronic water pump) and controller anyway (I know, part of my “swimming upstream” attitude as it has been called I guess, see the posts a few weeks ago). Anyway, after running it for about 3 weeks now I can report that it actually works very well. I had to make a couple of modifications to the controller (which I can describe if requested) but it works great! I can dial in a temperature and it will pump away happily and sit there. I have measured the amperage while running a few times and most of the time it uses less than 3 amps (around 1 amp much of the time as it “pulses”). I have installed sensors in different parts of the head and block to keep an eye on the temperature variations and it seems to be doing fine. If I dial it to “full bore” it keeps the engine way too cool.
I don’t suggest anyone else install one, not on my say so anyway (that’s a disclaimer right there) but I am pretty happy I gave it a try.
Speaking with Bill (95Lotus) yesterday; he suggested I tell you folks about it, just incase anyone else was interested.
Let me know if you have questions.
