Hey guys. Did a quick search but came up empty. I am in the process of changing the transaxle seals in my 94 S4 due to them being leaky. I am having a bear of a time getting the drain plug out, let alone the fill plug. First off, it is square and to make matters worse it is in a bad spot to get anything there. Do they make a socket for this? Any tips or pointers? I tried a 3/8 extension and that doesn't come close to fitting. Any help is appreciated. Getting fresh fluid in this transmission is all I have left to get her back on the road.

thanks.

You can get the correct 10mm square socket from a SnapOn truck. If you use anythng else, you run the risk of rounding out the corners of the plug and damaging it.

I made one from a 3/8" extension by enlarging the hole a bit with a dremel tool. Then find a socket that the other end of the extension just fits into.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

So I am sitting at work and my phone rings. it is my friend that helped me with the seals. He says he's gonna stop by to pick up a CD-RW drive I ordered for him. So I get home and meet up with him. As I walk through the door he shouts "Merry Christmas!" and tosses me a nice and shiny Snap-On 10mm square drive and then hands me a ball-peen hammer. When he was putting the seals in he said my hammer was shiite and that I needed a good hammer. Well now I got one along with the socket to remove the drain/fill plug in my transmission!

Merry Christmas guys!

Snap-On tools sells a square socket for a 3/8 drive ratchet that fits the drain and fill plugs.

Sorry for the extra post didn't read the entire thread.
