What year are you refering to? SJSportscars got $225 for a S3 and $445.00 for the later shape post 88. That is just for the glass, not including fixings etc.

I had mine replaced in my GT3. The insurance paid, but I had to take it to Autoglass as they would/could not do it at home/work. They said it was 4 hours work plus the glass, so say £500 all in.

You got ripped.. the glass plus a betaseal kit is less than $600 shipped via airplane from SJ, and I removed and installed the new glass in under 3 hours by myself with only a utility knife.

Hi,

Unless you're pretty skilled, this is one I'd leave to the pros, especially on the later cars as the windscreen is an integral part of the Supplemental Restraint System. It is a structural member on all models (pre and post SRS) and must be installed properly to allow the AirBags to do their thing as designed. Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE
