USA esprit insurance???
Discussion
I pay roughly $850 per year for full coverage with 100/300K liability up here in NY, which isn't the cheapest state to get insurance in.
My insurance company is Allstate and I am married, with no tickets or accidents.
These cars are usually pretty cheap to insure due to the fact that there are so few of them on the roads. It's all about demografics with the insurance companys, they rarely have to pay out claims on Esprits so the rates are generaly low.

Geico. About 700/yr, give or take for full coverage with a 1K deductable, not my primary driver, etc. They gave me some grief at first, but I pushed back pretty hard. Turned out the guy I bought it from had it insured through them too. Whatever you do, make sure they understand it is _not_ a grey market car.

My first Esprit was an 83 Turbo and I was 29 and paid about $1000 a year, $500 deductible with Travelers and a clean record. I sold the 83 and bought a 94 S4 about 3 years later and went to them to insure. They said they aren't allowed to insure Lotus anymore. Well, because I have had my other cars insured there for years, they finally insured it for $1200 a year $500 deductible. This is in South Carolina and is for full coverage. Just for comparison, my 91 Miata costs about $500 a year full coverage at the same company.
Hopefully with the US Elise, the Lotus name will be more recognizable for the insurance companies and the DMV etc.
After seeing some of these other premiums on here, I think I will shop around when I get back to the states.

Just thought I'd toss in my two cents...
I have full coverage through Leyland West. I pay $343.00 per year... 3rd car... 5,000.00 limits. However, they are very accomodating if/when I want to go farther. I just e-mail them stating I'm planning on adding some miles for a trip...

How much per mile after 5k do they charge?
I insured my 88 Esprit Turbo earlier this week with State Farm. Liablity limits are 100/300; 250 ded comp, 500 ded collision. To save some money, I put the new car on an existing policy (to retain the discounts - multi-car/multi-line). I don't have any tickets/chargable accidents, and my rates came to 435/6 mo.
So far I have only gone over 5000 miles 1 time. I called and told the girl that answered that I would like to go to a car show in FLA, but the return trip would put me over the limit... She said okay, no problem. I was expexting a bill - charge - something - ... she said no big deal, enjoy the trip. If this was very often there would be a charge, do not know how much? She just brushed it off and I got a nice typed letter "giving permission" for my records...
I did not question it!

American Collectors Insurance in Cherry Hill N.J. will insure cars 15 yrs and older. I pay $367.00 a year for my 1988 Esprit with full coverage including $500.00 for parts and labor no deductable. This is why I bought a 1988.

Hagerty Insurance. They covered my 91 SE for $485. Full coverage. They are one of the few that don't care if the car is less than 15 years old unlike American Collectors.
