I was taking some friends for a spin around the block yesterday and I still think to myself that was scary and really fun, watching their heads smack the back head rest out the corner of my eye is funny, which means thats enough power. So why is it I am always dreaming up of the next thing to add to the car to give more hp when I don't even need it! I need to back off and just leave it ay. I think I need to concetrate on other speed freak things like this to get out of my system

Yip this is me being shown the tiptronic shifter, trying to concentrate
Simon looking smug waiting for his turn.
You can lease these cars for a season $35000.00NZD or $2000.00 a race meet includes everything. At least the loti dosen't get thrashed all the time, these formula type cars you just walk away when they break.

We went for the introductory course 30 timed laps last Thurs at Taupo. After that you have to do the advanced course, then your set to book the cars for track meets. So no haven't got that far, but certainly got a taste for it and feel very comfy doing it. They govern back the revs to 7k so numties don't write them off (still very very quick) and when your very experienced they reprogram the computer to allow it to rev 12500revs, way too much power. Tiptronic shifter in the esprit Now there's a thought.

You may not NEED more power but being a car/speed freak you WANT more power. It will never be enough for people like us.

Once you start to modify a car you can never stop without a conscious and hard fought effort. No matter what car you get it trasnfers to it to some degree.

Mine started with a 1996 Eclipse GSX. Got that into the 13s down the 1/4, thinking that was fast. It isn't so I bought a 1992 Talon AWD and that is now an 11 second car, daily driven, dynoing 340WHP last year but should now be well over 400WHP (soon to find out for real) with the larger turbo addition. For my Lotus I said no modifying. That lasted a week. It is safe to say thought that I am happy with the 330HP chip, exhaust and BOV. I am happy with that because I have my test mule for speed.

If Esprits ever had enough power, we'd still be driving the original non-turboed G cars, wouldn't we? And faster cars never would have been built.

We need more power because the folks in Italy keep building new models. But we are smarter, for we realize our 25 year old design still has more we can squeeze out of it, at a fraction of the price, and still run with them.

In a word... Why ask why? One thing though... I do not think we do it for others or to show off. That is an easy excuse. We do because we are all infected with this "autovirus disease thingy"... that "whatever" that draws us to cars and speed. We all have it. There is no cure. And... thank God we can treat the symptoms with....... SPEED!!!

Now. I have a better question. Why the hell do we all tolerate these crazy slow speed limits imposed by people who are quite obviously not able to drive to begin with???

I was sitting in some V8's at the shop the other day and discussed with the Lotus mechanic that the ultimate is to have two loti's, get my engine re-built, put in a charge cooler etc and modify the inside and out to look like a sport 300. We both agreed that would be the business and very do able The other to buy a low miler well sorted V8 for show and shine events. Need to get another garage sorted first, I don't think Simon would want his toys outside.

Hi Kylie

Did you see 'Top Gear' last night. Had the Esprit being taken for a blast around a track. Very respectable time too.

BTW do your friends come back for another ride or do you need to keep finding more suckers to scare.

Hey I did see Top Gear the esprit looked great and he raved on about the great handling etc. Was that the new series of Top Gear or we still behind? It made me very proud.

A friend of Simon's has T-shirts made up saying "I survived the ride in Frog's 32 Roadster"

Now now... If we are going to start rumors... go for broke! I'd say BAR is changing its name sake to LOTUS Racing since it is getting sponsorship from the Lotus company - now making good money off the Elise sales-AND Kylie will be driving for them along side hmmmm... lets see... Yes... Danicia Patrick. AND... Bobby Rayhal will head up the group... AND the cars will be black and gold... and...

Like I said. Go for broke! Kylie would only drive a black Lotus anyway!!! :^) HAHAHAHA!!!

They are pretty, although I admit I have only seen one in pictures. At Road Atlanta a while back I saw a Lamborgini Diablo that color with a corn silk white interior. It was a pretty combo...
