Since my last post about thinking of getting an Esprit I have phoned up for an insurance quote.

The Porsche 911 964 (3.6L) on a classic policy is £560 fully comp (inc lowering and perf exhaust)

A standard Lotus Esprit '94 2.2L Turbo S4 is £3000 fully comp (standard)!!!

Limited to 7,500 miles pa!

This is with Lancaster Insurance. Any other suggestions on who to try as that's some difference between the two.

Thanks,
James

Tesco won't do a classic policy but with limited mileage to 7,000 and a whopping £700 x/s - £1,250 Fully comp. A bit better than £3k.

Lynbrook: 0845 130 4662

1987 Turbo Esprit HC.

Agreed Value £15,000.

3000 annual miles limit.

£354.90.

They also insure BOTH my bikes, one of which is a 750 Triumph Trident, for £82.73.

Worth a try?

Pat.

Thanks I'll phone them on Monday when their offices are open again. Always worth a try.

My age is against me being 25 but the price on the Porsche was so good I thought the Esprit wouldn't be so bad!

Liverpool and Victoria declined to reveal their quote so I can guess that it was a tad unrealistic!

Carol Nash were pretty good. Highest mileage I could select was 6,000 but an x/s of only £150.00.

Usual breakdown cover, legal protection and windscreen cover...

£878.81 FC.

Quote Lotus Esprit World when you call ClassicLine (ask for Darren Coote) and you can get up to a 15% discount. You can also get an 'Agreeded Value' Policy with valutions done by LEW.

Quotes are very competitive!

ClassicLine 01455 639000

Will be more on the LEW in the next week or so, will info on getting your Esprit valued.

I phoned ClassicLine this afternoon but Darren had finished for the day. I'll try again tomorrow if I have time.

This morning I received the quote from Carol Nash in the post. Rather odd, it's gone up by £92. When I phoned I wrote the cost down... Not impressed.

Also I don't think their quote included to and from one work place.

This evening I've done some more online quotes:

Elephant.co.uk with their rip off 10 months "accelerator" policy = £1,400

Direct Line - £1,200 with £850 x/s (ouch!)

I've always found Admiral to be very good. I was with AON last year (through the OLC), but they wouldn't cover my second car. Admiral covered both, the Esprit cheaper than AON and offered full no discount on both cars.

BTW, I have found the Admiral customer care to be exemplary, with no hassles or arguments.
