Finally got my 93 SE Highwing on the road after a full mechanical restoration.

All I can say is that these cars are STUPID fast when the boost kicks in. I have driven many other exotics (ferraris, lambos, porsches, etc) and I cannot recall any other sportscar that delivers such brutal acceleration. I always thought the original Audi S4 was a very deceptively fast car but the Lotus feels even quicker.

Pulling thru second and third gear on boost feels like the rear ends wants to rip itself out of the chasiss. I am truly impressed given what Lotus has done with a 2.2 liter engine using 15 year old technology. Btw, my car is basically stock.

I do believe.

Thats really cool to hear!! Damn, I got to catch a ride in one this summer! I will be showing up at some local club gatherings, maybe someone can bring me for a spin there. Last time I was a passenger in one was when I was 14 years old. I dont even remember the experience. It was a red S4, THAT I will never forget. But as for being in it, I dont recall a damn thing.

As a matter if fact, the guy drove it slower than anyone on the road. We did about 40mph the whole ride.

Not that I mind, I mean, I understand, it was brand new and he was learning it.

Later he traded it in for a 97 V8. And about 4 months down the line sold it and got a porsche. He said "Lotus is the hugest pile of junk. It kept on breaking will less than 3k on the clock"

Ah well.

Lotus ACBC,
Phil, met at the NY Autoshow, I'll give you a ride in my G-Esprit. Cannot make the show again this year because I need to do some exhaust repairs to pass inspection, however your up for a ride in Blackie anytime. I live in Western Massachusetts, not far from you. Let's get the LEO group up for a Berkshire run!

Cheers,
robert

Robert: I'd be up for a little get together. I'm only a hours drive from Springfield..., outside of Albany.
Feel free to email me sometime. I haven't seen a G car on the road in a long time.

Lotus ACBC,

Hoof it on down to DC on the 25th of April for the Britain on the Green show, and I'll take you out in Evilyn...you'll see what a 2.2 is really capable of.

Madmike - I will see what I can do! Where can I find information on this show? So if I go, I can set everything up ahead of time and plan my trip there.

NJ - I am definately going to be at the Auto Show. I have to go on a Sunday however, will you be there on that day?

Glad to see you have finished with the work planned and appreciate your feedback in the Rennlist forums.

Do post some photos of your car when you get a chance!!
