Any idea on how many laps they will last before fading?

I have the stock (celica) brakes, only mods are:

EBC pads
SS hose
Castrol SRF brake fluid
resurface rotors
rebuild calipers

depending on how hard you brake, from what speed you will brake from, and how much time there is for the brakes to cool off will determine the fade time.

For me with stock pads I noticed it on the 3rd lap going into a turn after a long straight at 130+ and slowing to 50. Had to use progressive harder pedal pressure and longer distance on the braking markers going into the turn.

What kind of EBC pads do you have? If they are the greenstuff they will fade under hard braking as I have found, you may want to up spec your pad.

I use Mintex pads myself with excellent results.

I have a semi metalic pad made by Hawk. I do not have a lot track time in the Esprit... yet, but enough to say that they do not fade easily. In fact, they need a bit of warming up before they start to work. I'm not sure who stocks them as they were given to me for a b'day gift (reminds me...note to self... I need to look into who stocks these things...)

I also have these on my MX-5 and I do have a lot of track time in it... they seem react about the same in both cars.

Call Tom Smith at Dave Bean Engineering and order a set of braided steel brake lines from him. You'll be shocked at teh change in feel on the stock SE brakes.

you can do a straight replacement of the front discs with the EBC turbogrooved discs, this would help with reducing fade.

You can now purchase a set for the rears.

Thanks for the input guys.

The brakes feel quite wooden after the servicing. I assume this is normal since the SS hoses do not expand. Not confidant about these brakes though. Far cry from what I'm used to.
