Ok guys, my stuttering problem has returned, 10600 Miles on my 97 and I just changed the spark plugs. Bottom line is one of the Spark plug wires is frayed and I need to buy one if possible. If I have to buy a bank (4 wires) its going to run me 150$. Can anyone tell me where I can get them for cheaper or for a single wire secondly if I can get aftermarket ones, and lastly a write-up of how to change them on a V8 since it seems like I have to take the upper plenum off to change the wires !!! Im quite angry than Im having this luck, but I hope once I get all of this sorted my car will run fine. Thanks again for all the help!

Unfortunately, unless you happen to have fingers the size of matchsticks, yes you will have to lift off the plenum to access the coil packs. (This isn't a huge job btw).
I've been reading your tales of missfiring woe over the past few weeks. A lot of these issues can be cured if you make sure the spark plug covers are watertight from the top, but still allow condensation to get out. It is a fairly common problem but is more annoying rather than wallet threatening!

I'm sure that once you replace the leads (at a cost of around $1m!!) and reseal the covers, everything will be sorted....!

Al,

Yes, you seem to be having bad luck.... in most cases the plug wires on the V8 are damaged by user-intervention as most are unable to get the plug wires detached from the spark plug easily.

I can't remember the guy's name but last year a post was made on the turboesprit list for a dealer selling parts at discounted prices which included the V8 plug leads. I think the part number is A918E0095F and list is $128.00 and the discounted price was $76.80. The phone number was 1-800-234-5394.

Actually I just called them again, and it seems as though they want 108$ per bank ... Its better than 144$ locally. So Ill be ordering these soon ... Thanks again, and if you could let me know if you think my miss-fire is coming from this Id appreciate it.

Al,

I'd have to examine the car to make that kind of determination... it really depends on how badly it is frayed and whether or not it is arcing, etc. and what else could be the cause. My car has 33K miles on it now and it runs great, but I also keep on top of maintenance and inspecting it for problems, etc. frequently. Have you gotten any info on cambelt servicing yet?
