PPI: Stress Cracks?

Are they a serious problem?
That depends.....
My Esprit has two or three very small cracks. It is a small price to pay for bodywork that doesn't rot and is immune from minor dents.

What are they?
**Pat found a thread which I wrote some stuff you may find useful.
What causes them?
****Its hard to tell without seeing them upclose it can be a number of things, poor lay-up of fibre glass, air bubbles, thin layer of gelcoat, body twist hard cornering that sort of thing perhaps.
Where do they normally show?
***I don't have alot of experience looking at other Esprits, but on mine I had small cracks on the wheel arches, the upper side panels by the petrol flaps, Some small crazing on the roof, this is a different story though and not stress cracks.
Are they a serious problem?
***They can be, depends on how far they go. Can also be just surface cracks too.
Difficult to repair?
***Most panel beaters that can work with glass should be able to repair these no problem. Its best to ask fellow lotus people close to home where a good place is to go with proven results.
Do most fiberglass cars have them?
***Am not sure, perhaps a head count here may help give you some numbers to start off with.
Luke.
