I am considering this upgrade for the V8, however, I wanted to know if anyone has had hands on experience with this unit and how much of a difference does it make? Secondly, is Lotus Cars USA the only place I can buy this from in US and how much do they run? I know there are similar units or alternate boost systems but how do they compare? Bottom line, how much faster does it get and is it worth to upgrade??

Thanks much for your input..

According to Clyde at LCU - installation of this may have a negative impact on your ability to use AC (not to mention impact your transmission - but I assume you will be strengthening the tranny prior to installation)

As Ernest said, there have been some reports about the AC not engaging properly with the Race ECM. In general you can expect ~ 75HP increase but the down side is added stress on the gearbox and axle shafts and it VOIDS any warranty you have. While I am not certain on cambelt servicing, it may void that as well. And yes, the only place you can buy one is LCU or a previous owner. Unless you plan on racing or frequent track use, I'd just get the high-torque ECM.

Hi Michael,
Look at the Marcus's Race ECU at www.pukesprit.de/

I have one and it works very well, like the original with A/C and with 440Hp. ;o)

Cheers,

John.

So is the unit sold by PUK or Motoconcept and actual ECU Unit or is it a chip system. Their description on the website is very confusing specially when it talks about "remove the stock chips and install chip sockets"......

Please help with this confusion.

Hi Mike,
Here is a picture of my Race ECU from PUK.

If you have any questions, you should ask Marcus at PUK esprit racing.
