Well, after connecting an aftermarket guage and sending unit, I see that my oil pressure is correct. After approx. one hour idling in the hot sun with the a/c on, the lowest reading was about 30 psi. As soon as I give it some revs, it goes back up and stays around 45-50 while cruising. So, I contacted VDO and got a part number for a new sending unit that would be within the specs (ohms) for the factory guage. I just ordered it from Summit and will have it to install tommorow.
If this doesnt work, I will do a complete guage replacment. I remember hearing some of you have done the same and have all the info on what the sender values etc. are. Who has this info? Is it possible you could email it to me or post it here?

Thanks
John

Glad to hear your motor is OK. What was the Summit part number on the sender?

It is part number VDO-360086D. The VDO number is 360086. Its a 100 psi sender that uses 10 to 180 ohms. I will let you know how it turns out.

Does it also have the idiot light switch?

BTW, the part number for the light bulb in the oil and other small VDO gauges is an EiKO 37. Slightly larger, but it fits and you can re-use the existing green condom from the old bulb.

Well, I got it installed and no, it doesn't have the idiot light connection. The gauge is a bit more accurate, but it still registers right on the edge ofthe red after warming up and idling. I will test it for awhile and see what the lowest it gets too. If it shows much lower, I will just do a complete gauge replacment. So just in case, I am now researching gauges. I will probably go with the Autometer carbon fiber gauges. http://hp.autometer.com/buyers_guide/product_lines/product_lines.html

Anyone have info on teh correct sensor specs???
