Dissed by a Ferrari 550 Maranello
Discussion
I know this is a general statement....
BUT!
Having friends with Ferrari's I have decided that there are 2 types of Ferrari drivers...
1)Elitist snobs that do not seem to know dick about the cars they paid $$$$ big time for...(other than the quotable stuff from a book or article)
2)Really nice people that love cars and love their cars best of all. These tend to drive 308's and 328's here. I have only met 1 550 driver that was not full of himself... even he said that he gets treated differently by 550 guys when drives his 308??? I even ran into one guy in a 550 that did NOT EVEN know what a Lotus Esprit was...HELLO??? I told him I'd put my money on the Lotus 79JPH against the F2000 F1 any day if wanted to talk "the race herritage"...
I suppose this is true for all types of car owners, but I'm proud to be counted with the Lotus owners! I have yet to meet one that was not really nice and loved cars!Especially THEIR Esprit.
Drive topless!!!

A few months ago I saw what I thought was a red Esprit coming towards me down a dual carriage way with a big central resevartion ( so it was a bit tricky to see 100% ). I flashed and waved and he flashed and waved back. When it went past it was a Ferrari ( the type that Magnum drives ). I dont flash other marque but alway flash/wave to all other Lotuses. 99% will do the same but sometimes you get the odd look as if they dont know why the hell you have just flashed them, as if you are some time of looney tune. I tend to shout "Suit your self" at them if they dont respond !

I give a cheery wave to other Lotus drivers, but have to say that I get a few blank looks from Elise owners...
I also find that many TVR drivers will acknowledge you, unless they're on a bend, when they seem to be preoccupied with trying to keep it out of the hedges..
I even got a thumbs up from a Boxter driver not long ago. Not sure how to take that one....
Pat.

It also depends on who's in there passenger seat, after all every man who drives an Esprit is good looking, charming and funny and every female passenger surely wants a piece of that sort of action...i have once shouted out of the window of my mpv, "I can buy a new car, pity you can't alter your looks" :-)
I had a great drag with an Aston Martin DB7 GT last week. We gave each other a cheery wave as I had to back off due to incoming traffic. Great guy :-) A lovely sight too seeing a big GT squatted right down at the rear powering along beside me.
Come to think of it, it was very James Bond. Should've used my smoke screen :-) LOL.
