Goodwood FOS - Pictures from the Windows 7 Supercar Run
Discussion
Hi there,
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011 and a new sponsor for the supercar run in the form of Microsoft and in particular Windows 7.
There was a great selection of cars out as usual, but unfortunately as seems to be the norm at Goodwood press photographers are restricted to three photography positions, 2 of which are pretty poor, and a third that suffers from massive problems with sunlight.
I will keep adding to this post as I work through the pics.
Spyker Aileron

BAC Mono

Nissan 370Z GT Edition

Derek Bell driving the new Continental GT

Bowler driver was on it all day

Not exactly new, but still a great car Bristol Fighter

Ferrari California

Caparo T1 - again not new but sounds superb

Covin C6W - very strange

Jason Plato in the Corvette ZR1

Hulme Can Am from New Zealand

Ferrari FF - great looking car (well in my opinion)

Chris Goodwin correcting a slide in the Mclaren MP4 12C

Safety Car for this year seems to have grown bits from the SL Black Series

Morgan Supersports

Noble M600 - love the colour scheme

Mercedes SLS

Finally for this batch the one your all waiting for - GT3 RS 4.0

Hope you like the pics.
Regards
Tim

Amazing day, I managed to blag a pass and got in at 6.40, wandering around the event on my own was a wierd feeling before the "general public" got in. Got a spot outside the house opposite the big screen at 9am and stayed on the spot and watched the cars until 1pm, the Telegraph stool for £3 was a great buy! If you are coming tomorrow bring a chair, sun tan cream, cool box and lots of drinks. The Jonny Walker tower was fab and the strawberries and pepper lovely followed by a dram.
I was chuffed to see the 787B and Sir Stirling in his Porsche again after Le Mans. I gave up a bit at 2pm and went home, the crowds were a bit much and I thought the rally stage might be packed and also it went off to lunch at 1.30. The Arrows were amazing. I am undecided between a new FFRR and a Twisted Defender though, must work harder!
Utterly fantastic day, the crowd appreciated all the drivers and riders great atmosphere and fun had by all. Ken Block and Chris Meek are legends.
My only critism is about the number of people with big lenses barging to the front, and people with iphones shoving them past your head to record the footage. One guy recorded about 10 minutes on his phone next to my lughole, who is going to look at it? My attitude is that somebody will have taken a better photo from a better spot as ably demonstrated in this thread, so why not look at those. I find the whole lower end photography thing a bit weird in some ways, why go to watch the whole thing on your lcd screen as you record it?

You get this everywhere now. You think you've got a good spot to view something and then 5 people in front put their arms up to record the whole thing, blocking your view completely. Selfish and pointless.Webber3 said:

Selfish and pointless. You line up a shot using a proper camera and then when the car comes past numerous hands appear with phones in the way. They should keep their phones close to their face out of other peoples' view as the length of their arm won't make any difference to the picture.
