Good wood FOS 2013 help needed.
Discussion
This year was the first time for me, I took the family and went on Friday, it was busy but no where near as busy as Saturday and Sunday, in fact Saturday was sold out.
There were a few celebs around but the popular formula 1 drivers don't generally turn up until Saturday/Sunday.
We arrived early, parked up just before 7.00am, stayed overnight in Brighton as I didn't fancy getting up stupidly early and driving down from Essex. Coming in from Brighton we ended up in the car park near the aviation stands, drove straight in no queues, parked up and walked straight in just as the gates opened.
Hit the super car paddock first on the left hand side of the hill climb then across to the main car stands and the stalls on the right hand side. Had we known we would have hung around the Formula 1 paddock for a bit longer as they were letting the kids sit in the Merc to have their pictures taken. Spent a good few hours just wandering around. Air display from the Red Arrows and the Euro fighter around lunchtime were brilliant.
We sat on the bank just past Molecomb Grandstand, had a great view of the cars coming up the hill and not too busy. Take a fold up chair if you have one, more comfortable than sitting on the grass.
The cars run up the hill in batches, each batch runs for about 20 minutes, then a break when the crossing places on the track open up. Each batch of cars runs twice during the day so if you miss one first time around they run again later in the day. Some of the cars are doing timed runs, other just for show.
We didn't bother with Grandstand tickets as you could get to the front in most places quite easily, if i was going on a Sat/Sun I would probably consider it.
The paddocks staging areas are a really good place to hang around, lots of drivers, owners and mechanics to chat with and you get to see the cars being fired up and prepared ready for their run up the hill.
Make sure your camera battery is charged and you have plenty of memory cards.
We left around 6.30pm, getting out of the car park was Ok, but the roads were slow for a few miles around Goodwood.
If I think of anything else I'll edit the post.
EDIT: For me Friday was the better day as I had 2 young children and the better half in tow. Saturday / Sunday would have been too busy for them.

My one piece of advice would be that one day is not enough.
There is a goodwood forum on here with loads of useful info about the FOS.
Agreed - Goodwood is so large now that 1 day is not enough. Consider using the Thursday (rolling carshow - or whatever its called) to see all the static displays - then either Fri/Sat/Sun to see the hill climb and rally/off-road stuff. There is a goodwood forum on here with loads of useful info about the FOS.
