Years ago I used to travel to Goodwood for the FOS every year as a Fathers' day present for my old man (funnily enough). Of late it's been too expensive to justify and after becoming a father myself it's difficult to find the time also.

My old man is getting a bit knackered and doesn't like big crowds. I'm wondering if the Friday show is -
-Slightly less crowded?
-Has some action on both the hillclimb and the rally stage?
-Has the same quantity of trade stands open?

I don't want to turn up on the Friday and find it's only half a show. I still want to see/hear some of the rare cars go up the hill. I'm just not sure of what happens on the Friday because we have always gone on either a Saturday or Sunday.

Hopefully someone can shed some light!

Friday has everything the Saturday and Sunday have including big crowds! Maybe not quite as many people but still seems rammed compared to when they first started doing the Friday.

Hmmm, bummer.

Last time we went it was absolutely roasting and the crowds were immense. We couldn't get anywhere near the trackside, which you half expect, but compared to earlier years we couldn't get that close to the static displays either.

Even if the crowds are * slightly * less then it will be a bonus. Doesn't bother me so much, but just thinking of the old man!

I think the only thing missing on the Friday would possibly be some some of the more famous drivers, who might only be there at the weekend. Other than that, Friday should be less busy (albeit slightly) and the traffic a bit better.

Oh and the red arrows are displaying on the Friday

Agreed, Friday just as manic as the other days.

It will just be as busy even the Thursday is busy now. For no crowds it has to be the 73rd members meet in march.

Not by much if they keep the cap on numbers.

Friday is less busy, but not that noticeably so. Early morning is good for looking around and seeing the early runs less crowded, but once you get to mid morning its just as busy as the rest of the weekend really.

last year the Rally Stage was very quiet, (1 run on the Skoda WRC whilst I was there) so if you into Rallying, be warned.

Do the F1 cars run up the hill on the Friday?

Don't tell anyone about the Rally Stage!!! Keep it for the cognoscenti, not the masses!!
