16-17 June: Goodwood Vintage Aeroplane Fly-in, Goodwood. Caters for classic pre-1967 aircraft, features Concours competition and two vintage air displays per day. Following the huge success of it’s inaugural Vintage Aeroplane Fly-In last year, the Goodwood Aerodrome will once again be staging this popular air show on Saturday and Sunday 16-17 June 2007.
The Goodwood Vintage Aeroplane Fly-In is an opportunity for everyone to get close to the pioneering and evocative aircraft from the golden age of flying, be they an avid aviation enthusiast or a curious casual observer.
The Goodwood Vintage Fly-In uniquely caters for classic pre-1967 aircraft, and features a concours competition for the coveted Goodwood Vintage Aircraft of the Year, with judging taking place all weekend, culminating with prize giving at 16:00 on Sunday 17 June. In addition, two vintage aircraft air displays will be held on both days, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon, plus the rare opportunity for visitors to experience at first hand an aerobatic excursion or a memorable flight in a Tiger Moth, Goodwood’s lovingly-restored Harvard.
A traditional vintage fun fair, plus some modern aircraft and avionics displays will also be on hand, as will go-karts for visitors to try their skills a little closer to the ground. Restaurants serving Goodwood’s delicious home-reared organic food will be open from 08:00 for breakfast, snacks and lunch, and a barbecue is also planned. An admission fee of just £5 will be charged for visitors, with children coming in for free up to and including 12 years old. An extra £2 will be charged for all visitors to ‘walk the line’ of the vintage aircraft display.
The Goodwood Aerodrome will be open between 08:00 to 18:30 on both days, and all aircraft owners are invited to ‘fly-in’ in vintage clothing. Free landings will be offered for any pre-1967 aircraft, and all can be entered into the concours competition. A normal landing fee will apply to all other aircraft, and prior landing permission will be required.
