Rain at Goodwood FoS
Discussion
Erm, depends how bad it is. A couple of years ago it was just too bad to send anything up the hill, waited for a couple of hours for the rain to pass and the cars started again but most took it very easy. To be honest it was a bit of a washout.
Mid 90's (cannot remember which year) one event was a total washout, rained so hard that the track was VERY flooded and a number of the tents were washed away, I was stood about 60ft from a video wall when it was struck by lightening, which was a shock (if you pardon the pun!).

I was there the same year, totally mud bath.
I was stood at the start line watching the bikes set off when all the marshals started taking the p**s out of one rider having trouble setting off.
He saw the funny side, got off his bike and unloaded a fire bucket full of water over the nearest marshal. Gave the crowd a good laugh 'cause we were all drenched already.
They're much better prepared for the crowds now with metal walkways and the like so rain won't be a problem.

I have been to a few wet events.
Year before last we left early, took almost as long to get our MX5 out of the car park than we stayed!
I remember year the fastest time up the hill (IIRC) was Michelle Mouton in an Audi Quatro Sport... she was quicker than the F1 cars as they could not get any traction, and went "cross country" past the house...

It was 1997 when fos was a real washout (the rain came down heavy all weekend!!) But 2007 also had a few rain storms too and it did catch out this aston driver . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfvYP3WEULA Sadly one spectator was badly injured too .

But motorsport enthusiasts are a hardy bunch eh? got my tickets at long last for sat/sun(can't do fri due to work) but very excited and i keep driving past to see how it's transforming, so fingers crossed for fair weather.
i have done every fos since it started so i know how miserable it can be if it's wet but true to say they have done a lot more with regards metal walkways in the grounds and for getting in/out of the fields where you park
