In all fairness, whilst the tipo may not be a supercar it was relatively revolutionary. It was the first major car to introduce platform sharing, it was the first 100 inch wheelbase car of it's class and a few other 'firsts' too.
Also, compared to the other cars of it's class in 1989, it was far more interesting.
