Thinking of booking hotels already, but the dates are not confirmed yet.
The dates I have are 30th June to 3rd July 2011. Are these correct?

I would probably shy away from booking hotels until after the 2011 F1 calendar has been announced (assuming it has not already)

As usual, nearly all of the hotels in the immediate locality are fully booked, (even with the grossly inflated prices!)
For the FoS week end some have been upped by 80% to 100%. yikes

Makes me thankful I can drive to and from the festival each day - it was quite nice hammering along at six in the morning on empty roads getting there.

Getting back afterwards wasn't as much fun though...

+1 - leptoning it at stupid o'clock starts the day off, you then get knackered throughout the day, then you need a restful, slow drive back to prepare yourself for the next day's excitement [well, you do at my age anyway.........]

You are lucky, it is a fantastic area too.
Coming from Cheshire, long drive down on Thursday, early start about 5.30 'ish.
Then early starts to FoS everyday just to beat the traffic and hopefully get a good (meaning close to the entrance/exit) car parking space.
Totally knackered by Monday morning before the long drive back to Cheshire.
Fun though!smile

When people comment on this it does make me laugh

What do you expect?

If you were the owner of a hotel/guest house in the area, would you not do the same?

Basically demand ALWAYS exceeds supply and has done for many years of GFoS and the Revival so fair play to them I say

Fair comment, but it does smack of 'rip off' at times.
Perhaps I just needed a whinge, as I don't really notice the cost when I'm having fun.

The increase in hotel prices happens at other events as well.
For the Monterey Historics some of the hotels increase their prices 300%.
