The OH's bike needs a new set of wheels, which gives me a great excuse to upgrade mine (Ritchey WCS on a largely standard Boardman Pro Carbon).

What would be a "sensible" upgrade... and if I can pick up a bargain (even if I end up with a set of wheels disproportionately 'good' for the bike) then that would be great.

Any suggestions?

I bought a Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheelset for one of my bikes last year. They cost £144 off ebay. They are excellent for that money and when i bought them, there were a few sets on there for a similar price. Just looked now and I must have been very lucky?!

I have heard good things about the Shimano RS30 wheelset but have never used them myself. Perhaps someone on here has experience of them?

40% off at merlin cycles. Seems like a good price to me!

Shimano RS80s: DA-level clincher rims, Ultegra hub, silly money from Merlin for what you get.
Hope RS Monos (?): Pro 3 hub, DT spokes, Mavic Open Pro rim. £300ish for a wheelset that'll do everything and last forever. Bargain, really.

RS80 or Krysium Elites without spending silly money, both great all rounders and better value than spending £200 on something toss.
